While ESFG partners continue to maintain individual funding areas and commitments to the East Side, members have identified the following collective efforts to pursue.

Align resources to connect east side residents to meaningful and sustainable employment.

  • Support innovative initiatives on the East Side where partners are working together in new ways to prepare East Side residents for meaningful, sustainable employment.

  • Support efforts to increase local hiring by East Side anchor institutions (e.g., hospitals, government, educational institutions).

  • Magnify and advance local ownership models including worker-owned businesses, social enterprises, and small business development.

  • Capitalize on the local food economy to identify and expand profitable and consistent markets within the local food economy.

  • Connect the public sector and anchor institutions to locally-owned businesses with a goal of expanding local procurement

  • Reflect East Side narrative through our current and new communications tools.

  • Work with community to build and implement a communications and storytelling strategy to highlight assets including youth employment, small businesses, workforce development, arts and culture, and food systems.
